2D REAL

It is impossible to paint “reality”. Logic defies it because the artist sees a 3 dimensional subject but is limited by a 2 dimensional representation using paint, paper or canvas.

HIDDEN THINGS

These paintings begin as an exercise or a warm up. Once the color has been decided, the paint takes on a life of its own. Shapes appear and disappear as the artist changes direction, focuses, sees ghost images and blots out ugliness. Shapes, colors, textures, blend, run, mix, mingle and merge until the painting declares “it is finished”!

REIMAGINING

Real things in nature and life such as landscapes, flowers, trees and people get reimagined in the artist’s eye. Shapes become distorted and unusual. Supernatural color is applied to create a pleasing, enhanced, fantastical designs.
